I was wondering which other Axis 1 disorders the migration theory can be applied to?

Thank you

Hi rachel,
Broadly The migration theory consists of the following
1. Schizophrenia : increased risk of schizophrenia in migrants. ( data from Afro caribbeans, danish studies etc ). Thing to remember here is the ecological fallacy i.e epidemiological data may not be applicable to an individual patient.
2. Depression : Psychosocial adjustment issues in migrants:
On a broader scale aspects of migration and the resultant psychosocial adjustment issues can be applied to any disorder as a maintaining factor.
Hope that helps
